Step 1: Assessment & Planning

Before starting, evaluate your patio's condition. Identify the surface type (concrete, pavers, natural stone), note areas of damage or staining, and determine whether you'll need specialized cleaning solutions for things like oil stains, mold, or efflorescence.

Step 2: Dry Debris Removal

Remove loose debris with a leaf blower or stiff brush. This prevents debris from being pushed deeper into the surface during washing. Pay special attention to cracks and between pavers where dirt accumulates.

Step 3: Pre-Treatment

Apply appropriate cleaning solutions to problem areas. For oil stains, use a degreaser. For mold and mildew, apply a specialized cleaner. Let these solutions sit for 5-15 minutes to penetrate and break down the contaminants.
